Some parents worry that raising a child with two languages will slow the child's speech. In a study led by linguist Amara Diallo, bilingual toddlers did know fewer words in each language than children learning only one. Find the Intersection

In Desmos, a system's solution is the point where its graphs meet.

y=x2−4x+1y = x^2 - 4x + 1
y=2x−7y = 2x - 7

What's inside

Every skill on the SAT, one lesson each

Reading: Words, Structure & Evidence

Short texts, one question each. Find the precise word, the author's purpose, and the evidence that actually proves the claim.

  1. 1. Words in ContextFill the blank with the most precise word, or say what a word means here. Predict your own word first, then match it.
  2. 2. Text Structure & PurposeWhat the text is doing, and what one sentence does inside it. Name the job before you read the choices.
  3. 3. Cross-Text ConnectionsText 1 and Text 2 disagree, extend or complicate each other. Sum up each in a line, then compare.
  4. 4. Central Ideas & DetailsThe main point of a short text, and the details it actually states. Whole text, not one line.
  5. 5. Evidence from the TextWhich quotation or finding would best support or weaken a claim. Match the claim's exact wording.
  6. 6. Evidence from Tables & GraphsUse a table or graph to complete a claim. The right data point matches the claim, not just the topic.
  7. 7. InferencesComplete the text with the conclusion that must follow. A small step from what's there, never a leap.

Writing: Conventions & Expression

Punctuation and grammar first, then transitions and the notes questions. The rules are few, and they repeat.

  1. 1. Sentence BoundariesPeriods, semicolons, colons, dashes and commas between clauses. The period test settles most of them.
  2. 2. Form, Structure & SenseSubjects and verbs that agree, steady verb tenses, and clear pronouns. Then describing phrases and apostrophes.
  3. 3. TransitionsHowever, therefore, for example, similarly. Name the relationship between the sentences, then pick the word.
  4. 4. Rhetorical SynthesisA student's notes and a goal. Pick the sentence that does exactly what the goal asks, nothing more.
