code and biology together
I'm in AP Bio and had no real idea this is what bioinformatics actually is. Finding the single letter behind sickle cell myself, in code, was unreal.

honest about how hard this actually is
I came in half expecting a get rich quick thing. Its the opposite. A good chunk of the course is about why your backtest is lying to you, and I learned more from that than from any of the strategy stuff. There's a lesson where they show you a backtest with insane returns and then make you find out why its fake. After that I started noticing the same mistake in half the trading videos I used to watch.

Everything is in a closed lab, which my parents needed to hear before they'd let me do it. You're not touching anything real, the targets are all simulated.

finally understand what an AMM is
I'd read about a hundred threads on DeFi and understood none of it. Building a liquidity pool in Python and watching slippage actually happen made it obvious in one lesson. The whale lesson right after is even better.

actually builds something real
The clothing brand thing sounded weirdly specific at first but margins, pricing, forecasts and inventory is literally what real companies need software for. I get why they did it that way now. The road to $1M lesson is the one I'd show somebody. You write like eight lines and it tells you what month the company gets there, and then you change one number and its way later. I didnt expect a coding course to make me think about that.

did not know you could hide a message in the last bit of every pixel in a picture. you cant see any difference in the image at all. thats the lesson i told everyone at lunch about and nobody cared lol the final challenge is the best part tho. you have to scan the target, find the weak service, get in, and then peel like three layers off the payload with the decoders you wrote earlier in the course. took me two evenings. i wish the hints were a little less obvious sometimes but otherwise 10/10

better than i thought

harder than the other courses
Good but definately do a Python course first. I had to look things up a lot. Still finished it and the part where you read the logs to find out who broke in made it worth it.

Good, slow start
Some background, I'd done a little JavaScript before this so I wasn't a complete beginner. Because of that the first couple modules felt slow. It's a lot of variables and if statements with a t-shirt company wrapped around them, and I was clicking through pretty fast. It gets way better in the second half. The lesson where you simulate a thousand seasons to figure out how many shirts to make was the first time I understood why anyone would use code for a business decision instead of a spreadsheet. Would be 5 stars if the early part let you skip ahead when you already know it.

Started with zero Python. By the end I was writing functions without looking things up. The sales data part is where it properly clicked.

OK so this course has six games in it and I thought that meant six tiny things but they are actual games. My favorite is Paddle Ball because its two player and me and my little brother play it for real now. I changed it so you need 10 points to win instead of 5 because 5 was over too fast. The hardest one for me was Sky Hopper. My bird kept flying up forever and never coming back down and I didnt get why for like two days. It was one number. ONE. Anyway its fixed now and I'm on the asteroid one.

The defensive side is underrated. Everyone wants to be the attacker, but the lessons near the end where you go through the login logs and work out which account got breached, and then follow what the attacker actually took, are the part I got good at. Thats most of what real security jobs are anyway, from what I've read.

fun but brick breaker goes on forever
Really enjoyed it and all the games work. Brick Breaker is 4 whole lessons though and I got kind of sick of it by the end, I just wanted to get to the space one. Sky Hopper only gets 2 lessons and thats the one I wanted more of.

I already knew a tiny bit of python from a youtube video but I never actually finished anything, I would just copy what the guy typed and then forget it. Here you have to type it yourself and guess what it will print BEFORE you run it, which I got wrong a lot at the start. I finished the whole bakery program and it runs. Took me about 3 weeks doing it after school. The price tags lesson was my favorite because before that I had two lists and they kept getting mixed up.

Fun and getting a flag feels great. Taking off a star because its all simulated, so you never use the real tools like nmap or wireshark, you write mini versions of them in Python. I get why (its for teens and its safe) but by the end I wanted a little more of the real thing.

solid, wish there was a part 2
Well structured and I learned a lot. It stops right when it gets interesting though, you build the Product class, do the investor pitch and then its just over. Would do a part 2.

Fascinating subject and taught well. You do need some Python going in, it says intermediate and it means it, so I had to stop and learn string slicing properly first. Hoping theres a Biotech II at some point.

The part where you check if two things are touching made more sense to me than anything else I've learned in coding. Its just checking if two boxes overlap. I thought it would be way harder than that.

The lessons are great and I learned a lot about variables. Only thing is I do it on an ipad sometimes and the symbols are really annoying to type, like the brackets and the quote marks. On my dads laptop its completely fine.

I'm way more of an art person than a computer person and my aunt got me this because of that. It was a good way in. You still learn loops and lists and all that, you just see shapes instead of text. The city at night was my favorite. Every window decides by itself if its lit or dark, so the city looks different every time, and I kept running it just to look. I'm doing the regular Python one next and I dont think I would of tried it without this first.

drawdown
Max drawdown changed how I think about risk in general, not just in markets. Before this I only ever looked at how much something made at the end. A strategy can finish up and still be one you never could have sat through, and the course makes you look at that number before the return.

Benage 10

Good course. Its pretty easy at the start though, the first few lessons are just putting shapes in places. I liked it way more once the loops started. I'd do another one like it if they made one.

The predict before you run thing is annoying at first and then you realize thats the whole point. I stopped just running code to see what happens and started actually thinking first.

I tried learning web dev from youtube twice and both times I ended up with a half finished todo app and no idea how to make anything else. This went differently because you build the same site the whole way through. Every lesson adds a piece, nav bar, hero, cards, the gallery, and by the end its a full site and you know where everything goes. The responsive lesson was the big one for me. I honestly didnt know you were supposed to start with the phone layout. Also small thing but there's a part where you make it show a backup message when NASA's server is down, and nobody ever taught me to think about that before.

good, but tailwind takes getting used to
The course itself is really well made. Tailwind confused me for the first few lessons because its just SO many class names to take in. Once it clicked it was way faster than writing normal CSS.

the yield question

good if you have never coded
I tried scratch before and got bored. In this one you type everything yourself so it feels more like actual programming. The ones where the code is broken on purpose and you have to fix it are my favorite. There was one where the allergy warning never showed up and it took me forever untill I saw why. Felt like a detective.

the first one I've actually finished
I've started a bunch of coding things and never finished any of them. Scratch, a roblox thing, some app my cousin showed me. I think the difference is with this one you get a game you can really play every couple of lessons, so you keep wanting to get to the next one. Cupcake Catch is done by lesson 2. By the time it gets hard you already have like three games so you dont want to quit.
