Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Generation STEM, an AI-guided technical learning platform for families. They are written to be direct, parent-readable, and clear about subscriptions, student access, safety, and support.
Last updated: May 29, 2026
1. Agreement to these Terms
By creating an account, starting a subscription, or using Generation STEM, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our COPPA Policy. If you are using Generation STEM for a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent or legal guardian, or that you have authority to provide consent.
2. Parent accounts and student profiles
Parent accounts are for adults. Students use student profiles that are created, managed, and supervised by a parent or guardian. You are responsible for keeping login credentials secure, maintaining accurate account information, and supervising how your household uses the platform.
Students should not provide personal contact information, addresses, school details, passwords, secrets, API keys, or private family information inside course prompts, Nova chats, code submissions, or project names.
3. Subscriptions, billing, cancellation, and refunds
Generation STEM is sold as a family subscription. Plans may include monthly billing or a six-month Semester Pass. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store raw credit card numbers.
- Monthly plans renew each month until canceled.
- Semester Pass plans renew every six months until canceled.
- Cancel anytime from the billing page or by contacting support. Access continues through the paid billing period.
- First-time purchases may request a refund within 7 days of payment by emailing support@generationstem.org.
- After the 7-day first-purchase window, payments are generally non-refundable and not prorated unless required by law or caused by a billing error.
- If we materially fail to provide access because of a platform issue we control, we may provide a refund, credit, or extension at our discretion.
To cancel or request billing help, use the parent billing page or email support@generationstem.org.
4. Course access and acceptable use
Courses are designed for guided educational practice. Some courses involve coding, cybersecurity concepts, terminals, simulations, or AI assistance. These environments are for learning inside Generation STEM and may not be used to target real people, websites, networks, accounts, or systems.
- Use the platform only for lawful learning, practice, and family education.
- Do not share parent/admin credentials, attempt unauthorized access, bypass rate limits, or interfere with platform security.
- Do not use cybersecurity, robotics, coding, or AI activities to attack real systems, scrape private data, or harm others.
- Do not upload malware, credential-stealing code, abusive content, or content that infringes another person's rights.
- Do not copy, resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit Generation STEM curriculum or platform materials without written permission.
5. Nova AI mentor
Nova is an AI mentor that can explain concepts, provide hints, and respond to student questions. Nova may be wrong, incomplete, or unsuitable for a specific situation. Students should use Nova as learning support, not as a substitute for parent judgment, professional advice, or independent verification.
We may process course context, student questions, code, and activity results through AI service providers to operate Nova and improve the learning experience. We do not use student data for behavioral advertising.
6. Student work and intellectual property
Students own the original code and projects they create. Generation STEM owns the platform, curriculum, lesson text, activity design, assessments, branded assets, and software. You grant us permission to store, display, process, and analyze student work as needed to provide the service, show progress, debug issues, and improve the product.
We may use aggregated or de-identified learning patterns to improve curriculum and platform quality, but we do not publicly display identifiable student work without permission.
7. Safety, security, and account enforcement
We may suspend or limit access if we believe an account is being used fraudulently, unlawfully, unsafely, or in violation of these Terms. We may also remove content that creates security, privacy, legal, or safety risk.
Administrative support tools are intended for troubleshooting and customer support. Admin access is protected and logged for accountability.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep Generation STEM reliable, but the service may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, provider interruptions, or upgrades. We may change courses, features, plans, pricing, or policies over time. If a change is material, we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected customers.
9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
Generation STEM is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim implied warranties and are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages. Our total liability for claims related to the service will not exceed the amount paid by your household to Generation STEM during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by applicable United States law and the applicable state law governing Generation STEM, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If a dispute arises, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it quickly and practically.
11. Contact and response times
For legal questions, email legal@generationstem.org. For account or billing support, email support@generationstem.org.
We aim to respond to standard support requests within 1 business day and billing/security-sensitive requests as quickly as reasonably possible.
